Slam Dunk For Nike

Beaverton-based shoe giant Nike has once again been named to Fortune magazine's list of the 100 best companies to work for. Compiled annually, the list is based both upon an evaluation of the policies and culture of each company, but even more heavily relies upon the opinions of the company's employees.

This year's ranking of 69th (dude!) puts Nike 31 places ahead of last year's 100th place. (Some Internet search company came in first.) Nike did not make the list in 2005.

Fortune calls Nike's Beaverton (well, more or less—it's not within the 'burb's city limits or anything crazy like that) campus a “sporting paradise”, with tennis courts, tracks, soccer fields, running trails, pools and even scuba and kayaking lessons. Nike is also one of only 22 companies on this year's list that offers paid sabbaticals.

Now if only those overseas manufacturing workers could get a few pools…
