Tempus Fugitive

Escaped sex offender Jessy Gene Moore

Just when you thought things couldn't get worse for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, they accidentally released a convicted sex offender one day into his four-and-a-half-year sentence.

Jessy Gene Moore, 21, was released from jail Wednesday evening after being convicted of first-degree sex abuse the day before, Sheriff's Office officials said.

The error leading to the release is under investigation. Apparently, there was confusion at the jail's records office stemming from one of the two counts of sex abuse he was charged with being dismissed.

An overnight search failed to locate Moore, who had previously lived in Clackamas and Salem.

MCSO urges anyone with information about Moore to call 503-261-2810.
