WW welcomed Keen Footwear to the Rose City in our Best of Portland guide this year. And today there's another reason to give them a little nod.
I bought a pair of Keen Targhee hiking boots in the spring. They were some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and I wore them pretty much every day. Sadly, our relationshp was as doomed as Joni and Chachi's. The soles started wearing through after about nine months. In my mind, if you're going to shell out more than a hundred bucks for a pair of shoes, they should be good for at least a year of normal wear and tear.
I wrote to the company, explaining my frustration and included digital photos of my holey soles. They responded that my problem was a common one and the shoe bottoms had since been reformulated. I got a replacement pair of Targhee IIs in the mail the next week.
