Downtown PortlandIf homelessness downtown scares away potential shoppers, the new “Give More Get More” shopping card will kill two birds with one stone.

The card, released today by the Portland Business Alliance, Downtown Marketing Initiative and Downtown Retail Council, gives special discounts and offers from over 28 downtown stores. It costs $30, and all proceeds will be donated to the Kevin Montgomery-Smith fund, a program to help end homelessness in downtown Portland.

“Homelessness is a serious issue for downtown Portland,” said Lisa Schroeder of Mother's Bistro & Bar and Mama Mia Trattoria. “We're proud to play a small part in finding a solution while at the same time providing businesses an opportunity to make a difference and reward our downtown customers during this holiday season.”

Shoppers can purchase the card at the concierge desk in Pioneer Place, the Portland Oregon Visitors Association tourism office at Pioneer Courthouse Square and many downtown stores, including Nordstrom, Pendleton Home, Old Town Pizza, Stephen Vincent Jewelers and Ben & Jerry's.
