The Oregon couple, Lofton and Croteau, gained national attention when they challenged Florida's ban on adoption by gay couples, and won the support of Rosie O'Donnell. A press release reporting the 13-year-old Bethencourt missing was issued because he has a medical condition and had left his medication at home.
