Cannon Beach Considers Tsunami Tower

Too bad for the City of Portland some of our surplus real estate cannot be shipped to the Oregon Coast in the same way wind farm developers send massive towers sailing up I-84 on the back of tractor-trailers.

As bankers auction off South Waterfront condo towers and the City of Portland schemes to restart construction on developer Tom Moyer's downtown office building, The New York Times reports the town of Cannon Beach is proposing to build a $4 million tower that would shelter up to 1,000 people in the event of tsunami.
