Dirty Mittens Go to Church

From the beginning, Dirty Mittens always sounded good. The band—led by singer (and, for the record, ex-WW intern) Chelsea Morrissey—has evolved over the years, from its humble beginnings as a cutesy indie-pop quartet to its current incarnation as a retro soul-pop powerhouse. But rarely—in concert, or even on record—has the group sounded this good playing the handclap jam "Arcadia." Once again the amazing Into the Woods dudes capture a fantastic performance (here at the old Masonic temple in North Portland where Dirty Mittens recorded its upcoming full-length), but this time it's most notable by the sound, which is crisp and wide and just right. Watch out for the choir, featuring members of Y La Bamba and Monarques, who may or may not have been drunk for the early morning shoot.
