A few months ago, Copy's Marius Libman
decided to do something he'd never done before under his current moniker: Jam with another musician. For a Winter is the New Summer warehouse party, Libman—and his trusty keytar—was joined by drummer Andy Parker of Guidance Counselor and Dirty Mittens. The pair hit it off so well that Libman decided to rope Parker in as Copy's full-time live drummer starting with a headlining set on July 17 at the all-electro dance party Superfest 2
. Although it's the end of an era, it's also an exciting thought to picture Copy's super synth jams with ferocious live drums. Plus, what band isn't adding members these days? YACHT, Menomena, Atole—I'm just waiting for the call from Hutch Harris to accept my position as the Thermals' cowbell player. Take it away, Marius!
The addition of andy in my live set up really ads a ton of energy to the performance, i'm really excited to have him laying down beats with me. after 4 years of going it alone it feels great to share the stage, especially with someone as awesome as andy.
Even more energy in a Copy set? Superfest 2 is going to be one sweaty pack of dancing kids. Libman says that the new Copy record is "pretty much ready to be duplicated" with only the artwork still unfinished. I'll holler when I know more.
