zach65fb9307d1ec7 Whereas much of Breakfast Mountain's output is augmented by vocals—either the soulful croon of Doubledutch's Jordan Bagnal or a rap from Tyler Ferrin of presently-in-limbo Boy Gorilla act Typhoon—"Cereal" is all about the music, with not a voice in earshot. And while XLR8R mis-identified Breakfast Mountain as being a project by dearly departed Eskimo and Sons' leader Dhani Rosa and Ghosties' Devin Gallagher, Zack Osterlund is in fact the sole driving force behind the project, while Rosa and Gallagher help round out the act in the live arena.

Clocking in at just over four minutes, this tune is as spacey as ever; so yeah, the Ratatat comparisons are still on the money. My advice to the listening masses? Think of "Cereal" as an alterna-lullaby. There's a mystery that seems to lurk in the depths of this song's steady beat and well-paced melody. Who knows what worlds it will take you to...
