Though it's debatable [or totally not: see comment] whether or not Jona Bechtolt, a.k.a. YACHT, was ever technically a member of the The Blow, he's officially given notice and is leaving the project. If you'll recall, The Blow's been around for a heckuva lot longer than he's been a part of it. Last year's much creamed about pop album Paper Television was in fact an unlikely two-person follow-up to what was supposed to be a one-off collaboration, Poor Aim: Love Songs, between YACHT and The Blow (Khaela Maricich). It's all pretty confusing really. I'll let this note from do the explaining...
Jona Bechtolt, whose production skills, instrumentation, and beats can be found on The Blow's albums Poor Aim: Love Songs and Paper Television will no longer be a member of the band, in the studio or on the road - he is leaving in order to concentrate all of his energy on his primary project, YACHT. The Blow will continue on as the project of Khaela Maricich.
Although he is enormously proud of his work with The Blow, as well as happy for The Blow's continued success, he would like to clarify any confusion: the reason he was not on stage during any of this year's Blow performances is because he was performing live as YACHT, and working on his new YACHT album.
YACHT's also added a couple more dates with LCD Soundsytem to his already massive tour.
