Menomena Births Tracklist, Fall Tour

MenomenaLast month Local Cut broke news to you, the world, that Menomena had signed to Barsuk Records and that the band was still working on the true follow-up to its excellent debut, I Am the Fun Blame Monster. We told you that the album, actually the band's third dip into experimental pop, will be called Friend and Foe. But dammit if we didn't have the actual tracklist handy to give unto you. Well now, thanks to Pitchfork, we do. And here it is:

1 Muscle'N Flo
2 The Pelican
3 Wet and Rusting
4 Air Aid
5 Weird
6 Rotten Hell
7 Running
8 My My
9 Boyskout'N
10 Evil Bee
11 GhostShip
12 West

The folks at Pitchfork are all excited about the title "Muscle'N Flo." They would be. Here at Local Cut, where we attribute other online publications for news that they break, we all are a-twitter over "Boyskout'N," clearly a superior title.

Oh, and Menomena has also announced a fall tour it will be undertaking with the Long Winters, but they have those dates posted on their MySpace page, so Pitchfork gets no credit (although we did totally copy and paste the schedule from the web rag and reformat it ... God bless the digital age). Here it is:

09.18 - Denver, CO - Larimer Lounge
09.20 - Norman, OK - Opolis
09.22 - Atlanta, GA - Smith's Olde Bar
09.23 - Chapel Hill, NC - Local 506
09.24 - Raleigh, NC - King's Barcade
09.26 - Charlottesville, VA - Satellite Ballroom
09.27 - Baltimore, MD - Sonar
09.28 - Philadelphia, PA - World Café Live
09.29 - New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
09.30 - Allston, MA - Harper's Ferry
10.03 - Montreal, Quebec - La Sala Rossa
10.04 - Toronto, Ontario - Lee's Palace
10.05 - Detroit, MI - Magic Stick
10.06 - Chicago, IL - Subterranean
10.07 - Minneapolis, MN - Triple Rock Social Club

Oh and there is a new track from the album on Pitchfork and they say it's "Exclusive," so we will respect that (even though the track is also available on the band's MySpace), and just give you a link to it here. It's called "Wet and Rusting" and it sounds great. Brent Knopf has traded in the Rhodes for the piano and Danny Seim has got some vocal duties on it. We'll save a review until we can post it to this site.
