On Tuesday Aug. 1, Olympia, Wash. will transform from the capitol of Washington into the capitol of underground queer culture as the biennial Homo a Go Go Festival will envelop the city in all things homo. For six days there will be spoken word performances, socio-political workshops, craft fairs and, of course, karaoke. Oh, and there will be live music too, from some of the most notable names in the underground, including Portland's own Swan Island, Show Me The Pink and the Gossip. Of course there's a hell of a lot more than them. Here's the full lineup:
BLOWOFF (featuring Bob Mould and Richard Morel)
Show Me the Pink
8 Inch Betsy
Winning Looks (with Tami Hart)
The Dead Betties
The King Cheetah
Take the Blame
Not impressed? Well, how about an evening with Hedwig and the Angry Inch
's John Cameron Mitchell, who will be giving the crowd a peek at his new film Short Bus
, which gained some considerable praise and the Cannes Film Festival. And there will be a screening of Alex Hinton's "homo-hop" documentary Pick Up the Mic
If you're still not impressed it's only because your listening to Pat Robertson.
The event is all ages and tickets range from $5 to $25 for single events and from $60 to $200 for admission to all events.
