Organizers of the Pac Northwest's best damn roots music festival, Pickathon
, just announced the lineup for this year's festival (Aug. 4-5). For the annual festival's eighth year, organizers are switching things up a bit. This year the festival will be held on the Pendarvis Farm
, somewhere between here and Boring. And then there's this from the fest's web site:
We are working on a complete sustainability plan that addresses the areas of renewable energy, waste, "green" hotels, transportation, and more ... If you need a Hotel we recommend you book at the only Oregon green seal certified Hotel. The Doubletree Hotel is located very close to both Pickathon and Downtown Portland. Because of its location next to the Portland MAX light rail one can get to the Doubletree from a plane or train without the need for a taxi or rental car. We are also working on making it possible to take mass transportation right to the festival itself so you could enjoy both the Pickathon and the lovely neighborhoods of Portland without the need for a car at all.
No, Michael Franti will not be playing. Here's what the touchy-feely-rootsy fest has planned for this year:
Iris Dement, Kelly Joe Phelps, Greg Brown, The Wood Brothers, CJ Chenier, Darol Anger, The Avett Brothers, The Wilders, Danny Barnes, The Waillin Jennys, Martha Scanlan, Kris Delmhorst, The Earl Brothers, The Everybodyfields, and many others.
The fest's new fancy-schmancy website has gone audio tracks of all these artists. So, go, and enjoy the sounds you web-savvy lover of anachronistic music.
