LKN Benefit Announced

Portland's wildest guitar goddess, Lauren K Newman, busted her skull open after falling down a flight of stairs a couple weeks back. She has no health insurance, so her friends are putting together some benefits to pay for her mounting medical bills. Tiffany Lee Brown, a WW contributor who also runs 2 Gyrlz Quarterly, sent Local Cut this:

"The concert is scheduled for Friday, June 23rd, 2006. It will be held on the 4th floor of the Modish Building located at 333 SW Park Avenue, downtown Portland. This event will be open to anyone who donates to LKN's benefit fund up to the day of the concert. Recommended donations are $10-20 sliding scale. Also, people can donate time, drinks, or other items that help make this the most memorable concert of 2006."

No word on what bands will be playing, but we are sure there will be some headbanging (of the proper variety).

LKN's label, Greyday, and publicist, XO Publicity, are also in on the fundraising fun. Kaytea Mcintosh from XO just sent this notice out:

"A friend of [Newman's] set up a benefit site for her (www.helplkn.com), so if you want to spread the word, that would be a good way to start. GREYDAY will also be setting up a benefit package for her (all three of her records for $20, all proceeds will go directly to her) on Monday."
