The Bender is back, and better than ever. We just got a press release from Slabtown head-honcho Sam Soule announcing the lineup for the Slabtown Bender—the third annual event that, and this is a quote, is “fast becoming Porltand's signature weekender for truly wild rock ‘n' roll.” Last year's lineup was pretty great, but nothing tops Mudhoney. Seriously, just the chance to see “Touch Me I'm Sick” in such a small venue is more than worth the price of the whole weekend. The reunited kings of sludgy Northwest garage rock are headlining the three day event, taking place Feb. 6-8. Nearly 40 bands from across the country will play all day and night, and the weekend features some of my favorite bands around. Mark your calendars, dudes. The full lineup (thus far): Mudhoney?, Pierced Arrows?, King Louie and the Loose Diamonds, ?Pure Country Gold?, The Pity Fucks, ?Howie & the Hot Knives?, Harlan Bobo?, Thee Make Out Party?, The Mean Jeans?, Thee Headliners?, The Ettes, ?Hank IV?, Rapids?, The Bare Wires?, The Turpentine Brothers?, The Traditional Fools?, Ty Segall?, The Pleasure Kills, Static Static?, The Foxgloves, ?Hairspray Blues?, Vancougar?, Box Elders, ?Guitar Magazine?, Shark Toys, ?The Leaders?, Meercaz?, Reptilian Civilian?, Therapists?, The Fucking Eagles?, The Fast Takers?, The Whines?, and The Wires.
1033 NW 16th Avenue. 223-0099 Fri., Feb 6th.– Sun., Feb. 8th. $28 wristbands for all bands, 3 days! $12 nightly admission (no advanced sale).
