While supporters of same-sex marriage in Oregon tell their stories in hopes of getting a future measure on the state ballot, their counterparts elsewhere are fighting their own battles to achieve the same goal of marriage rights.

There's a move by backers of same-sex marriage in Maryland's legislature to make the state the seventh to provide gay and lesbian couples with full marriage rights.

And on the flip side, same-sex marriage advocates are playing defense in  the District of Columbia against Republicans in the U.S. House who are aiming to reverse same-sex marriage rights in DC.
