Alela Diane Embraces Soft Rock on New Single

Oh, and you thought the headline was snarky! On the first peak from Alela Diane's upcoming album, Alela Diane & Wild Divine, the local singer-songwriter puts a little '70s country in her step, with a bouncy, very Fleetwood Mac electric organ line and soft square dance percussion. "To Begin" is a completely new sound for Diane, who in the past relied mostly on her rich, husky voice and acoustic instrumentation to create some of the most beautiful folk music of the past decade. The record was completed with the help of her backing band (which includes her husband Tom Bevitori and father Tom Menig) and ace producer Scott Litt (Nirvana, R.E.M., the freakin' Replacements) who came out of a seven year retirement to work with Diane. We can't wait to hear the whole thing!
