Stumptown Does Chicago

Portland's home-brewed coffee empire Stumptown is expanding to Chicago, according to Time Out Chicago.

Bean baron Duane Sorenson told the paper he not only plans to open a coffee bar there, but also a roastery, which would presumably put the company is a position to take on more retail accounts with other businesses in the city (Stumptown already has one account there).

It's a ballsy move in the hometown of one of the country's specialty coffee powerhouses, Intelligentsia, which already has a number of cafes and its own accounts throughout the city.

This will be Stumptown's 10th location, and the fifth outside of Portland.
