According to a press release from the new Portland Trader Vic's, Mayor Sam Adams will declare August "Portland Tiki Month" at the bar's grand opening Aug. 1. So break out the leis, y'all. It's retro-future drinking this week!
The news from this week's OLCC applications:
Fire on the Mountain Buffalo Wings has applied for a brewing license for its new location on Northeast Fremont Street.
Harvester Brewing has applied to open Portland's first gluten-free brewery at 715 SE Lincoln St. Appropriately, the brewery will be just four blocks from gluten-free New Cascadia Traditional Bakery.
Someone by the same of Sadie Morrison (maybe this Sadie Morrison?) has applied for a license for Las Primas, Inc. at 3961 N Williams Ave. That's right next door to the future Box Social bar.
Pacific Crust, Inc. is opening a restaurant called The Broadway Rose—not to be confused with the Tigard theater company of the same name—in the former Almost Normal Cafe space on Northeast Broadway.
Finally, a mystery from last week's edition has been solved. The Portland P Palace, coming soon to the former auto dealership at 2340 NE Sandy Blvd., will be, according to its application, a "family fun center that all can enjoy," with ping pong, pool and putt putt golf. And beer!
