The U.S. Senate last night voted to confirm Amanda Marshall as the U.S. Attorney for Oregon. Marshall, currently in charge of the child advocacy section of the Oregon Department of Justice, replaces interim U.S. Attorney Dwight Holton as the state's top federal prosecutor. Holton—and before him Kent Robinson—served in interim roles after former U.S. Attorney Karin Immergut resigned in July 2009. The U.S. Attorney's position is a presidential appointment, and it's typical for the incumbent to step down when a new party takes control of the White House.
Marshall, 42, says she'll begin work as soon as President Barack Obama signs her commission and she is sworn in, which will take one to three business days.
"I am looking forward to starting and am excited for the opportunity to serve the United States and the State of Oregon as US Attorney," Marshall told WW via email.
