60 Minutes on Groupon

On Sunday night, 60 Minutes got around to Groupon. Check out the video here—and if you already know how the online daily deals business works, you can fast forward to 7:55 for the bit about Groupon "horror stories," a phenomenon WW covered in depth last summer.

"If we were smart, evil people, we would be more cunning and subtle in our evil ways," Groupon CEO Andrew Mason tells Lesley Stahl, whose bafflement regarding Mason and his newfangled business grows increasingly charming as the segment continues.

Stahl missed the obvious follow-up: "Are you saying you're good, but stupid? Or stupid and evil?"

Later in the interview, Mason likens news reports about his company's dubious business practices to hazing, and makes a super-geeky comic book reference that sets up one of the best narrative transitions in the history of broadcast news:

Mason, looking intense: We're like Wolverine and our skin has been melted off and we've had adamantium fused onto our bones and it's made the [corporate] culture stronger as a result.
