The monthly DJ nights known as Bubblin' have been some of the most can't miss events in the electronic/dance music calendar for a couple of years now. To date, they have brought in folks like global bass maniac Dre Skull, UK Funky pioneer Roska, and the DC producer behind the burgeoning genre known as Moombahton, Dave Nada .
2012 is already off to a cracking start for Bubblin'. On February 11th at Rotture, they -- along with co-promoters Dropping Gems -- will be bringing out LDFD, a DJ and producer from Dallas whose specializes in screwed up, frizzy tunes that slink along with a cat-like nimbleness, as well as putting the spotlight on ambient hip-hop instrumentalist Citymouth and MIDI-beat loving DJ Gumar, both Dropping Gems artists.
Their first event of the new year sets the bar remarkably high for the Bubblin' crew. Together with the Abstract Earth Project, they are bringing in Pearson Sound, the jazzy post-dubstep producer/DJ who has managed to eclipse the incredible work he has already done under the name Ramadanman. His is a minimalist approach that relies on low slung beats woven tightly with deep, deep bass tones and shaky sonic intrusions.
Lucky for Pearson Sound, he is going to be ably supported by a trio of local DJ talent, including Bubblin' house DJs Lincolnup and Ben Tactic, and Crown Room resident Tyler Tastemaker. And the whole thing is going down at the always hopping Groove Suite starting at 9pm.
It's going to be one beautiful, beautiful night - and to get you in the mood for that and the wet weekend ahead, we've included a nice 70-minute mix of deep house and lively techno that put together by Lincolnup. If this doesn't help you to survive the last day of the work week...there might be no hope for you.
