Last week’s feature on Portraits of the Willamette left out the most avid group of river users – spring chinook fisherman. On any given day in April and May there are hundreds of “springer” fishermen on the Willamette angling for the most prized salmon in the Western Hemisphere. To neglect this spring ritual is like writing a story on Portland’s weather and failing to mention the rain!

I’ve enclosed a couple of photos of spring chinook we recently landed in downtown Portland that would have been a great addition to your feature story.

Thanks David!
