Today WW reported that a former legislative aide complained to two law enforcement agencies about alleged sexual misconduct on the part of her one-time boss, State Rep. Matt Wingard (R-Wilsonville).
This afternoon, House Republican Leader Kevin Cameron (R-Salem) announced Wingard will give up his leadership position in his caucus.
Here is Cameron's statement:
Update 5:35 p.m.: Wingard emailed WW a statement which reads, in part:
âEarlier today I have formally submitted my resignation as Deputy Leader of the Oregon House Republicans. My resignation was graciously accepted by both Co-Speaker Bruce Hanna and Republican leader Kevin Cameron. In hindsight, I should not have entered into the relationship and for that, I offer my most sincere apology.ââI am also deeply sorry for the harm this has caused my family, friends and supporters."
