DeFazio on Sausage-Making

You know the adage, "The making of laws is like the making of sausages—the less you know about the process the better"? 

This famous line, (which some credit German leader Otto Von Bismarck for uttering) would apply to the following clip from our interview with U.S. Rep Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.)

The bill is the Transportation Bill, which disburses gas tax and other revenues to finance roads, transit, railroad, water, bicycling, and pedestrian transportation. The Senate and the House have now agreed on a version of the bill, but  when we spoke with DeFazio a couple of weeks ago, the bill had been held up for years, most recently by the far right wing of the Republican Party.
