Future Drinking: Vacant Lucier Space Resurrecting as Quartet

And other new places to eat and drink in Portland

Some activity at the site of Portland's massive failed experiment in high-end fine-dining, Lucier, which until recently was so well preserved it looked like it had been cleared by neutron bomb. Three of Portland's most prominent African-American entrepreneurs—Frank Taylor of Portland Prime, Bernard Foster of The Skanner and parking don Roy Jay—are on the liquor license application for a proposed new venture, Quartet, at 1910 SW River Drive in the dully posh South Waterfront. The application promises live music from 6 pm to 10 pm.

Alan Davis, owner of the newly swank Produce Row Cafe, has hopped the Willamette with an application to open a venue called the Multnomah Whiskey Library at 1124 SW Alder, between a nail shop and a beauty salon in an egregiously under-served West End neighborhood. Its name, at least, sounds promising for the happy hour crowd.

Bangkok Bites Thai cuisine at 7915 SE Stark in Montavilla is being repackaged as a full-bar venue called Redwood

Brass Tacks Sandwiches at 3535 N Vancouver Ave. has put in for a beer and wine license.
