Democrats File Election Complaint Against GOP's Huffman

Jim Huffman2Jim Huffman
The Democratic Party of Oregon today filed a federal elections complaint [PDF] against Jim Huffman, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

Earlier this week, The Oregonian noted that loans Huffman recently disclosed to his campaign appeared to exceed the value of assets Huffman disclosed [PDF] as part of his candidacy. Huffman—running against U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.)—declined to answer the daily's questions about the loans saying "he thought more attention should be paid to the issues he is raising in his campaign, not how he is financing it."

But that answer clearly didn't satisfy the DPO which filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission.
"It is simply implausible that Mr. Huffman had enough "personal funds" to loan $1.35 million to Respondent. Consequently, some or all of the $1.35 million in cash loans likely originated from a source other than Mr. Huffiman's 'personal funds.' As a result, Respondent likely accepted - and the actual source of the loans likely made - an illegal contribution in excess of the $2,400 per-election limit," the complaint says.

Huffman's spokesman, Rainier Butler, says the candidate did nothing wrong.

"Based on the advice we were given we acted appropriately," Butler says.

Typical tight race Wyden tricks. Another reason to question what else is tricky about the 30 year Senator.
In Wyden's race for the Packwood seat he went after Gordon Smith's deceased father, after Gordon's Smith's business and after a tragic accident. None of which were found to be offenses directly related to Smith. But it sure tricked the voters in that close election.
Isn't it time to leave tricks to young children in costume or school yard bullys?
Give yourself a treat and vote for Jim Huffman for Senate.

I like the kids playing in the sandbox in the background. Now, where's that beam of light bursting out of the heavens, and the singing angels?

"Tight race," Brenda? Care to cite some data supporting that absurd assertion?

Oh, goodie, last minute lawsuits days before the election. Can we talk about the Kitzhaber and Kulongoski lawsuit by a former state employee now?
