Your New Guide to Avoiding Portland's Hipster, Frat and Tourist Hot Spots

Or finding them, if that's your thing

It probably doesn't take a map for us to know the truth: hipsters, frat boys and tourists all travel in clusters.

But where a map does come in handy is if you want to avoid, or find, any of the above.

Ubiquitous review site Yelp released a heat map that pinpoints the "hot spots" where key words come up. Not surprisingly, "hipster" has blips on inner East Burnside, Alberta and Mississippi, while "frat" is all about the Pearl District and Old Town.

Fret not: there are cultural values shared by stereotypical cliques citywide: "beer" and "brunch" have clusters all over town, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, so does the key word "hangover."
