Watch A New Pixies Video Filmed at Pickathon 2013

The video for "Andro Queen," a new track from alt-rock survivors Pixies, doesn't actually feature anyone from the band. Instead, this artful little clip from director Ondi Timoner brings you along on a hallucinatory journey through the 2013 edition of Pickathon, replete with suitcase kick drums, tiger heads, brooding dudes in hats, alt-roots singer-songwriter Shakey Graves, and plenty of other beautifully shot yet confounding imagery.

It's a nice match for the spacy quality of this song, a tune that hews closer to the sci-fi wonder of the band's third LP Bossanova, and a typically obtuse take on the music video from a band that, for a long time, refused to lip sync in any of its early promotional clips.

The video comes along with the news that Pixies will be taking off on a long tour of the U.S. that will keep the band busy during the first part of 2014, including a stop here in Portland on February 19th at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall with Best Coast opening up.
