Former Lake Oswego Cheerleader, Suspected Pimp Charged in Trafficking of a Minor

A former Lake Oswego cheerleader and her alleged pimp were indicted in federal court Monday, charged with recruiting an underage teen from the cheerleader's high school, according to court records.

Julia Lynn Haner, 19, and Konrod Mason, 30, were charged with sex trafficking of a minor and transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. The offenses carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Haner attended Lake Oswego High School in 2011, then transferred to Cascade Academics, a private school in Oregon City, before moving to California last year, according to officials at the high school.

After high school, court records say, Haner began working at strip clubs and eventually met Mason, a pimp with a history of physically abusing underage girls, tampering with a witness and intimidation.

Court records say Haner went to work as a prostitute for Mason and helped recruit new girls. Among those Haner allegedly targeted was an old friend from Lake Oswego High student, now 17, whom she reached out to through Facebook.

In late February, court records say, Haner and Mason picked up the teen at a Lake Oswego gas station. At a Motel 6 in Vancouver, they photographed the teen and posted the images on Backpage.com. Then they put the girl to work as a prostitute in Southwest Portland and Eugene, according to a support for detention document filed in court.

FBI agents questioned Mason and Haner on March 26 after catching the teen during an undercover sting. The duo were caught a week later with a new recruit in a Beaverton hotel, documents say, who had met Haner on a club cheerleader squad.
