Oregonians will find out Monday whether the state will be ordered to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

U.S. District Judge Michael McShane in Eugene notified the court today that he plans to issue an opinion at noon on Monday, May 19, in response to a motion for summary judgement in the case of four same-sex couples who have challenged the state's constitutional ban on gay marriage.

McShane this week rejected the request of the National Organization for Marriage to intervene on the case. The anti-gay marriage group said it should be allowed to argue on behalf of those who don't want to see the state allow same-sex couples to wed.
