TFNW adds Ron Wyden, LAIKA to the Program

TechfestNW

TechFestNW, the now three year-old celebration of the digital start-up scene in Portland, added two interesting and diverse elements to its program this week.  The first is Senator Ron Wyden, who, addition to being the senior Senator of this state, has been called the Paul Revere of the digital age, for his work on the Senate Intelligence Committee.  This clip, which will most certainly be on a loop in some museum thirty years from now when historians track the golden age of Big Brother, stars Wyden as he asks a question he already knows the answer to:

Wyden's talk at TechFestNW: Innovation and Your Privacy in a Digital World.

The second addition to the event, which begins August 15 and runs in conjunction with MusicfestNW, is LAIKA, the stop-motion animation company that, in less than 10 years, has become a major player in the film industry, making movies that are commercially successful, critically acclaimed and employing next-generation technology. Creative Supervisor Georgina Hayns, Director of Rapid Prototype Brian McLean and Co-VX Supervisor Steve Emerson will discuss the teamwork behind the upcoming feature "The Boxtrolls."
