Wehby Raises Nearly $1 Million for Senate Race

Dr. Monica Wehby

Republican Senate candidate Dr. Monica Wehby will report having raised nearly $1 million in the second quarter - and 85 percent of that has come in since May, Roll Call reports

But her opponent, incumbent Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), raised nearly twice that amount, pulling in $1.8 million.

Merkley is favored in the race, but Roll Call election ratings suggests it might be competitive in a year when the Republican Conference is seeking to take three seats from Democrats to win over control of the Senate.

Wehby's campaign will report $122,000 in debt, according to Roll Call, but still had $647,000 on hand at the end of the last reporting period, which ended June 30.
