The Beaverton Beavers? Mayor Doyle Responds.

The Beaverton Beavers may not be just the name of a high school mascot, if Merritt Paulson and the City of Portland don't find a new location for the Portland Beavers Triple-A baseball team in the City of Roses by Aug. 1.

Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle is in France for most of the week on a visit to a sister city.

But word is leaking out anyway that Beaverton officials have, in fact, reached out to Paulson and that they have expressed interest in bringing his baseball team to their 'burb. Stay tuned.

Update at 3:30 pm: "If Portland is unable to find a suitable location for the team, we'd like to be considered as a potential regional solution to not only keep the Beavers in Oregon but in the immediate Portland metropolitan area,” Mayor Denny Doyle says in a written statement released this afternoon. “We're open to listening and exploring the opportunity to build a mixed-use facility here in Beaverton that could serve a number of public uses. As more details become available, we will share that information.”
