Far Out: Just Out's 25th Anniversary Bash

Tags: media, gay
You know, when the state of California goes insane and, locally, the Oregon Supreme Court refuses to hear a legitimate case for gay rights, there's really only one thing to do: THROW A HUGE PARTY.

Just Out obliges with a blowout for the newspaper's 25th anniversary. Yep, the Portland paper has been speaking out for local LGBTers since 1983, with its current managing editor/publisher Marty Davis at the helm since 1998.

The birthday fabulousness, which we hear will include appearances from everybody from Terry Bean and Darcelle XV (sorry, she's got a show) to Donna Dresch, Poison Waters and some little known former Just Out writer named Thomas Lauderdale, goes down this Saturday at Boxxes/Red Cap. The newspaper's also nabbed BURLESQUIRE, Sahara Dunes and "drag diva" Meisha Peru for performances. And it's all free. (Update: Free until 10 pm, it's a $5 cover after $10 pm.)

Plus, current Just Out staff writer (and former WW classical music critic) Stephen Beaudoin will be there. And, usually, Beaudoin + party = an excellent a capella rendition of "Planet Unicorn (Heeeey)."

Really, it's not to be missed. Congrats Just Out.

Just Out's 25th anniversary party, Boxxes/Red Cap, 1035 SW Stark St., 226-4171. 9 pm Saturday, Nov 22. Free until 10 pm; $5 after 10 pm. 21+.
