The Oregon Liquor Control Commission reports that it has proposed the cancellation of the liquor license for Becken's Winning Hand Tavern at 5917 and 5919 Southeast 82nd Avenue
. We don't know why Becken's has two different addresses for its storefront between Monique Salon and Liberty Buy-Sell, but it sounds like a rockin' joint. From the press release (emphasis ours):
The liquor license for Becken's Winning Hand Tavern is held by Timothy M. Becken. The license is being proposed for cancellation due to a history of serious and persistent problems involving unlawful activities in the premises. The problems included the licensee selling methamphetamine on the licensed premises. The licensee was arrested for unlawful possession and delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of cocaine, unlawful possession and delivery of Oxycontin and unlawful possession and delivery of marijuana, all on the licensed premises.
"OLCC staff counseled Mr. Becken in December 2004 and May 2006 about illegal drug activity on the premises," said Carl Lewis, Regional Enforcement Manager. "The fact that he personally participated in five instances of drug activity on the licensed premises within a two-week period shows an unwillingness or inability to obey the laws regarding unlawful drug activity."
We tried to reach Becken for comment, but the bar's listed number has been disconnected. We imagine he isn't there anyway, given this Oregonian report
. Shame. The real question: Is Timothy M. Becken the same Tim Becken who drove his car into the MAX tunnel
