Great Job, Oregon—We Post About Being Hungover on Social Media More Than Any Other State

And apparently Portland is the 3rd Most Hungover City in the World.

How many bad nights have you had lately? Or, actually, how many bad nights have you posted about on Instagram lately?

According to a released study by Detox.net, the correct answer is "a lot."

Oregon ranks first in social media posts with hangover-related hashtags—including #stilldrunk and #hairofthedog—and Portland ranked third most hungover city on the planet. The study searched for pics on Instagram with those hashtags, then sorted them by geotagging.

Only New York City and London are ahead of us. That's right, Portland; you almost caught up a city where 18-year-olds can legally drink.

Of course, this doesn't mean that we drink any more than other places—just that we really, really want people to know about it. Congrats?

The study blames Portland's status as a "brewery capital" for the ranking. Makes sense, especially since the city has more breweries than any other city in the world—105 in the Portland Metro Area as of April—and people are drinking a lot more beer lately.

That's all well and good. I just wish you could scroll through the local Instagram feed without wading through #hangoverface selfies.

We get it; you were a little extra last night. But when 32.8 per 100,000 Oregon residents are talking about it…
