A staple of Foster-Powell since 1985, Bucket Brigade(8012 SE Powell Blvd., 503-774-8953, bucketbrigadesportsbar.com, 9am-1am) is a proudly divey sports bar with low-slung ceilings, a tap list that ranges from craft to swill and décor consisting of random beer schwag and dusty antiques. The colorful clientele congregates on the enclosed patio, which is heated during the cold months, sharing stories, cigarettes and sometimes even a dance to whatever’s on the jukebox.
A native Southern Californian, former Arts & Culture Editor Matthew Singer ruined Portland by coming here in 2008. Fortunately, he left Portland for Tucson, Arizona, in 2021.
