Cheap Eats 2005

The Berlin Inn offers a full menu of Teutonic pleasures, but cheap eaters head next door to Edelweiss' deli counter for top-notch sausages, 'kraut and warm potato salad (sausage-salad combo, $3.90). Seating is slim, but the array of German foodstuffs-marzipan, pickled salads, chocolate-makes for delicious eye candy. Throw in a startling array of German, Czech and Polish beers, and you've found one of Portland's most uniquely satisfying food experiences. (SL)
