Hooking patrons on phonics every Sunday, along with the Pizza Pub's fantastically huge slices, excellent beer selection and nightly live music (mostly of the acoustic variety), put it in the unlikely position to be North Mississippi's coolest joint. For those who can't abide children, the Atlantic Lounge in the back makes for a good grown-up experience, with candlelit ambience and excellent cocktails. The whole shebang is S-T-U-P-E-N-D-O-U-S.
What to drink: Nothing washes down pizza like a frosty pitcher of Widmer Hefeweizen, $14.
Happy hour: $1.75 cheese, pepperoni and veggie slices; $12 pitchers; 50 cents off pints 3-5 pm daily.
Entertainment: Live music, adult spelling bee Mondays.
