Thereâs already an abundance of restaurant roundups for Thanksgiving from other media outlets (or, as our officeâs only Australian likes to call it, âThanks-for-nothing.â) However, most of these places are completely booked. So, for those of you non-traditionalists, non-cookers and non-thanksgivers looking to find delicious and comforting alternatives for your Thursday meal, here are five restaurants open and ready to serve you.
Chennai Masala:
Although itâs tucked in a Hillsboro strip-mall, this place serves up some of the tastiest Indian cuisine in the Portland metropolitan region. Trade in the turkey for some Chettinad chicken, a warm slow-cooked portion of spicy, creamy, coconutty goodness. Soak it up with the vada, soft lentil fried doughnuts packed with cardamom. 2088 NW Stucki Ave., Hillsboro, 531-9500.
New Seoul Garden:
Eat some Korean barbeque and give thanks to the tabletop grilling at New Seoul Garden. Try the pork belly, beef sirloin, or bulgogi, thin slices of marinated rib eye. 10325 SW Canyon Road, Beaverton, 352-3737.
Pho An:
Thanksgiving usually means itâs cold, rainy and dreary outside. What better way to warm up than with a giant bowl of hot Vietnamese noodle soup? Pho An offers some of the cityâs best pho with over 20 varieties for meat-lovers and vegetarians alike. 6236 NE Sandy Blvd., 281-2990.
Tanuki:
Spicy, salty, drinking food! Opening in its new Montavilla location, the izakaya-type joint serves up Japanese and Korean dishes to accompany its plethora of drinks, including sake, beer and the fruits of a full bar. 8029 SE Stark St., 97215.
UPDATE: Tanuki owner Janice Martin tells us the restaurant is completely booked for Thanksgiving day.

Five Spice:
A deep Southeast gem that cooks up many Chinese dishes to be thankful for, including an assortment of soups, clay pots, noodles, roasted meats and a whole fried flounder. The food is surely to break the hunger without breaking the wallet. 2446 SE 87th Ave., 772-1808.
