âIf youâve ever been to the corner of SE Oak and Grand Ave., youâve felt one of two things: Excitement at seeing an H.P. Lovecraft-themed bar with great DJs and music, or utter horror at seeing tentacles emerging from the sidewalk and dance nights titled âSkullfucK.â Actually, DJ Horrid does an amazing job of spinning recognizable tracks from the Smiths and Joy Division while keeping with the barâs goth image with deeper, darker cuts. SkullfucK, this Friday, is actually a very fun and accepting night, in ways the Cthulu mural on the wall isnât. (10 pm, free, 21+)
âNot only is Saturday your chance to catch twerk-juicer and Philly club pioneer Swizzymack at Holocene, but opening up for him is Quarry, recently posted to WWâs watch list. Itâs the launch of a new club night, Verified, hustled together by trap master Gang$ign$. If it sounds like a ploy to hijack the financial industry via mimicking their own hyper-secure payment processing systems, thatâs because it probably is. (9 pm, free before 11 pm, $8 after, 21+)
âIf for some reason youâre not on the bass train, Lazy Rich, the Vancouver-based electro house producer, is coming to Whiskey Bar on Saturday. The vocals ring through nice and clean, and Lazy Rich has pulled his fizzing synths straight from the electro house entry in Encyclopedia Electronica. Itâs nothing groundbreaking, but it will be 128 BPMs of loud dance. (10 pm, $10-15, 21+)
