Miami Celebuchef Micah Edelstein Will Open Brunch Spot in Portland

The Feisty Lamb is moving into the former home of Sok Sab Bai

Top Chef contestant and Miami celebuchef Micah Edelstein is moving to Portland.

The South-African born chef plans a spot called the Feisty Lamb at the little Victorian bungalow that used to house Cambodian restaurant Sok Sab Bai, at Southeast 21st Avenue and Clinton Street. And in true (adopted) Portland style, it will be a brunch spot.

At her Miami restaurant Nemesis Urban Bistro, which closed in December of last year, Edelstein was known for a fast-rotating, dizzying menu with dishes like kangaroo carpaccio with rooibos-tea-smoked tomato oil, and upscale takes on obscure-to-our-shores South African meat dishes such as boerewors, bobotie, and sosaties.

Edelstein says to expect a similarly “world-eclectic” approach here, promising dishes that are nothing like anything else being served in Portland right now. However, she also says the Feisty Lamb will be more "fun and frivolous" than Nemesis was, "because brunch is fun and frivolous." She's not willing to divulge any planned dishes, however, until she's sure she's got her purveyors lined up.

Here's Edelstein talking about her previous spot, Nemesis:
