Three Men in Paris Stole Kate Mura's Priceless Masks

Kate Mura

Elaborate, custom masks have been the highlight of Portland actor Kate Mura's Suburban Tribe show for years. But the priceless props were stolen in the Paris airport when Mura took Tribe to the largest French arts festival, Avignon Festival, this July.

While checking into a hotel in the Paris airport, three men in business suits stole our most important bag
fundraiser tonight at CoHo Theater to raise money to rebuild her props

"The bag carried all of the one-of-a-kind masks, a one-of-a-kind costume constructed by Jessica Bobbilot, almost our entire box-office take from the OFF [Avignon Festival]," Fuse wrote.

Calling it "a great personal loss," Mura is not hopeful that she'll see her beloved masks again. "The police seemed certain they would find these men, but we have heard nothing."

GO: Kate Mura Unmasked: a Fundraiser is at CoHo Theatre, 2257 NW Raleigh St., 7:30 pm Monday, Aug. 24. By donation. boxofficetickets.com.
