Beer Hall: Night Of 1000 Hoplands, The Beermonger's Sixth Anniversary, Tour De Lab

Portland Beer Events for the week of Sept. 3.

It's a week of new things in Portland's beer and cider scene. Fresh hop beers like Laurelwood's Free Range Red and Workhorse IPA are making their way onto taps, and breweries are storing their big, strong, dark ales in bourbon barrels for winter. Slowly but surely, hoppy fall releases and darker lagers are taking over the taps. And what a week to embrace it. Reverend Nat's shares its follow-up to our Cider of the Year—with four flavored variations ranging from fresh grapefruit to passionfruit, one of Portland's finest beer bars celebrates six years in business with special regional brews, and most pubs in town still have the last dregs of the batches they sent to the Great American Beer Festival on tap. Get out, discover something new and drink often. Welcome to September in drizzly, quick-pouring, mecca. PARKER HALL.

Friday, Sept. 4

Night Of 1000 Hoplands

Reverend Nat's releases its biggest, hoppiest, cider ever this Friday, with four variations available for sampling at its Northeast Portland tap room. A 10 percent ABV cider inspired by triple IPAs, this is the next evolution in the cidery's ongoing hoppy collaborations with Barley Browns in Baker City—the first of which, 2014's Envy, was this year's Willamette Week Cider of the Year. Called "Hopland," patrons will be able to sample the cider plain, with fresh grapefruit juice zest added, randalled through chili peppers and mangos, or blended with passionfruit cider. PH. Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider. 1813 NE 2nd Ave. 4-11 pm.

Saturday, Sept. 5

The Beermonger’s Sixth Anniversary

Celebrate 2,191 days in a row with the Mongers, who offer 12 special beers. No specifics as to the what, but we do have some idea as to the who—there will be offerings from Breakside, Against the Grain, the Commons, Evil Twin, Firestone Walker, Hof ten Dormaal, Stone, De Dolle, among others. The bottle shop will also have a few rare cellared beers to add to your stash. PH. Beermongers. 1125 SE Division St. 11 am.

Sunday, Sept. 6

Reverend Nat's Barrel Aged Cider Tasting

The second day of the weekend-long celebration for Beermonger's sixth year features six barrel-aged ciders from Reverend Nat's, and a special blend developed by Sean Campbell, Jim Bonomo and Chris Heagney. Pours include a brandy barrel-aged Newtown Pipping and a Lorrie's Gold aged in a 12-year high-stored Elijah Craig barrel, which should be smooth and well-oaked. PH. Beermongers. 1125 SE Division St. 2 pm.

Tour De Lab Pub Ride

Ride your bike for miles and miles with a pack of dog lovers and receive treats along the way at each pub for doing a good job, not to mention dog ears or noses. At the finish line, you get free craft beer and—what else?—all-you-can-eat hot dogs. The four-pub course is 41 miles of biking. The three-pub course starts at 10 am and goes 19 miles. Lucky Labrador Brew Pub, 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd. 8 am. $39.

Wednesday, Sept. 9

Lompoc Octoberfest Release

Lompoc releases its amber Octoberfest lager to great fanfare, including a special appearance from the Pamplemousse himself. The brewery will also be featuring a special of bratwurst and sauerkraut, just for the occasion. PH. Lompoc Sidebar, 3901B N Williams Ave. 4 pm.

Vertigo Brewing Fresh Hop IPA

Hillsboro's Vertigo Brewing releases its Fresh Hop Session Amarillo IPA, in collaboration with 54-40 Brewing and Crosby Hop Farm. Provided it showcases the hop correctly, the ale should taste like lemon and grapefruit, with a touch of tropical goodness on the back end. Yum. PH. Vertigo Brewing, 21420 NW Nicholas Court, Suite D6, Hillsboro.
