If you want to watch a Portland-y sport like soccer or basketball on a big screen but want to maintain some semblance of cool, stop worrying and just go to Beulahland. It's got enough big screens that you're pretty likely to get a seat, even during playoff season, and affordable drinks—try a PBRadler, just PBR and grapefruit for $3—a respectable rotating tap list and a hefty, if not too inspiring, food menu. And while you'll probably find a few screaming fans, they're more likely to be wearing a kilt than a Delta Upsilon polo shirt. Beulahland is squarely in the Old Portland bar camp, with tables on the sidewalk from the days before the ubiquitous patio, where people smoke, pet their dogs and get table service. You've got cozy corner booths for romantic dates and long rows of tables you can push together for a birthday party. At its heart, it's a neighborhood dive hybrid: Any shiny edges or new paint have been worn out or covered with posters, but everyone feels like friends.
Happy hour: 4-7 pm daily. $2 Hamm's, $3 well drinks, $1 off all regularly priced food.
Entertainment: Soccer and basketball on three big screens. All ages till 9 pm!
