Lion's Eye Tavern

Lion's Eye—once in the predator's perch as one of the only palatable drinking lists for miles—has now become the midpoint between the many craft taps serving the Cartlandia cart pod army of 82nd Avenue and the many new bars that have sprung up on Southeast Foster Road. It's also in the middle between craft-beer bar with beautifully low $4 prices on Commons Farmhouse, Breakside seasonals and Fearless Peaches & Cream, community center with framed patio murals and backyard bike parking, and true dive bar with a bathroom urinal covered over with garbage bags rather than repaired. It's the sort of just-shabby-enough place where an off-kilter British regular might knock you off your own kilter with a long battery of jokes while the bartender rolls her eyes, and the whole neighborhood shows up Sunday for a pool tournament that often offers free food—the closest 82nd Avenue may ever get to Penny Lane.

HAPPY HOUR: 3-7 pm daily.

ENTERTAINMENT: Pool, jukebox, trivia night, board games, cornhole, pinball, TV.
