If you're one of Southeast Portland's many "I never cross the river" types, it's worth noting that not all suburban craft beer consumption takes place in a strip mall. In the case of IBU, it happens in a massive split-level beer barn where the service is friendly, the locals are grateful and the tap list is well-endowed. Check its website for a current look at what's in IBU's 36 kegs, which feature far-out oddities from familiar names, like a Belgian quad from Double Mountain and a black raspberry sour from Deschutes, as well as taps from respectable out-of-staters like Founders, Melvin and Lost Abbey. Odds are you'll end up traversing the B2H at some point, so it's good to know a rare pint and an elk burger (chili mayo, Madeira-braised mushrooms, shallots, truffle spinach and smoked white cheddar; $16) lie en route.

Willamette Week’s reporting has concrete impacts that change laws, force action from civic leaders, and drive compromised politicians from public office.
