When it opened in the Hollywood District back in 2001, Laurelwood instantly became a destination for beer fans and families. The genius here has always been the pub's ability to provide a setting that works for both adults and kids. The larger space, opened in 2007, has employed some excellent brewers over the years, and the list of standards and seasonals reflects that reality. The arrangement Laurelwood has with the Craft Brew Alliance, which contract brews Workhorse IPA and Free Range Red for six-packs, enabled current head brewer Shane Watterson to produce more experimental and seasonal beers. Full Sail in Hood River will now produce the packaged beers, but don't expect anything to change on the tap lists of Laurelwood pubs, including locations at the airport and in Sellwood.
Drink This: The flagship Workhorse, reworked more than once to use different hops, is as tasty as ever. Hardcore hopheads will prefer the more robust Megafauna when available.
