Considering hosting a small wedding in scenic Tigard? Make friends with Adam Amato and Matt Shelby. Their 1.5-barrel garage operation caters to one-off conceptual brews, private parties and whatever else crosses the minds of these two drinking buddies, who decided to become a licensed business two years back. They've made around 50 barrels a year since, with four or five recipes they're confident enough to reproduce. The rest are one-time experiments. "If it's bad, we'll just drink it ourselves," Shelby says. Their most popular, the Sunporch Pale, is a summer ale that holds its own year-round and is hoppy enough to woo IPA die-hards. The list of regulars is 10 strong, bookended by two stouts—the Bubba at a scant 4.5 percent ABV and the Dubba Bubba Imperial at 8.2 percent ABV. The Growlerie, Hop n Cork and Sherwood's Growler House tap kegs, but most of their beers are made to order—so you could not only get married in the garage but serve a special beer to boot. "We're still experimenting," says Shelby. "Neither one of us are quitting our day jobs."

Drink This: Look for the surprisingly quaffable mint chocolate stout at Hop n Cork in Lake Oswego.
